What is a "Yayla"?
A "yayla" is a summer highland meadow which offers the best conditions and freshest conditions for animal grazing as well as a cool respite for humans. In the summer months, many Turkish families moved their entire household up to the yayla and spent the summer making cheese and yogurt from milk flavored by the alpine flowers and grasses in the yayla.
When we opened our restaurant in March 2014, we chose the name YAYLA because in Turkish culture, YAYLA stands for everything that is natural, pure and fresh. At Yayla Bistro, our Turkish chefs prepare from scratch our family's traditional and healthy Mediterranean dishes using ingredients with the highest standards of quality.
